"Continuing" Projects

These projects assist individuals on a regular, continuing basis.

Child Sponsorships

Two Sponsored Boys

Sponsoring children is the major project activity of Asian Aid USA. Hundreds of children who have already been identified, and who have applied for sponsors to aid them, are waiting to attend school or be cared for in an Asian Aid orphanage. Please read the latest Newsletter, Latest News and Sponsorship pages for more information and periodic updates.

Children who receive sponsorships are given a home in one of Asian Aid's orphanages and schools in India, Bangladesh, or Nepal. In these facilities, they are loved, cared for and educated in a Christian environment. Many go on to college to receive basic skills to prepare for a productive, independent life and vocation in their society. Sponsorship expenses for these students are higher than for the younger ones.

A sponsorship will provide for your child: Room and board, education, minor medical attention, a school uniform, a Christmas gift, and more!

This man receives
'Hungry Money'

The 'Hungry Money' Fund

Funds donated to this fund are used to provide one meal a day, and one blanket a year to destitute adults. Three to five US dollars will provide food for one person for a month, and can mean the difference between life and death for many people. In most countries of Southern Asia, there is no government or local welfare assistance for those who are old, sick or crippled who have no relatives to care for them. Without assistance from the Hungry Money fund they would not survive.

Some Asian Aid USA Hungry Money funds are provided to lepers in the leper facility located at Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh state. The present facility resulted from funds raised by Asian Aid Australia. Money for food is provided to those with deformities so serious that they cannot prepare food for themselves.

Blanket Fund

Monies contributed to this fund are used to purchase blankets for individuals who live in areas where it is cold. Some of these destitute people also receive Hungry Money, some do not. Blankets are given away every year, but the demand is great and not all will receive a new blanket every year. A two-year rotation is possible if sufficient funds become available.

Gift Fund

Sponsored children receive a small gift every year at Christmas. As the number of children grows, the need for funds to purchase these gifts also increases.

Medical Assistance for Nepali Women

As stated in the January 2002 Newsletter, many Nepali women have received much-needed hysterectomy operations free of charge. Many more women remain to be helped.

Lay Evangelism

Asian Aid USA supports 3 Lay Pastors who minister in many areas across India. Asian Aid USA also provides the materials such as Bible Lessons, health tracts and other materials for these dedicated workers. If you have an interest in assisting in this project, please check the box marked "Evangelism" on the downloadable donation information form and send your gift to our office.
